The Awaken Persephone Soundtrack
When I was writing Awaken Persephone, I listened to a lot of Hozier.
Like… A lot of Hozier.
To me, that was just the perfect vibe that encapsulated who Tulip is as a character, who she was in her past life as Persephone, and how I wanted the book to feel as a whole.
But, now that the book is published and being enjoyed by readers, I have come to kind of picture the events of the book in my head very cinematically. I think that’s largely why I came up with my “dream cast” (see my last blog post). As a reader, I picture things vividly in my mind with a full cast of actors playing each part. As a writer, it’s pretty much the same— except I tend to picture myself as every character acting out each scene… When two characters kiss, it can get a little weird. Publishing Awaken Persephone has shifted my vision from Writer Mode, to Reader Mode, and now, everything plays out in my mind like a movie.
And what does every movie need?
A soundtrack!
You don’t need to listen to this playlist to enjoy the book. But if you want to linger in its atmosphere a little longer — while reading, after finishing, or somewhere in the quiet middle — this is the sound of Awaken Persephone.
